AndyIt is with great pleasure that I invite you to the 2019 CVSN Aftermarket Distribution Summit this September 14-18 at the Rimrock Resort in spectacular Banff, Alberta, Canada.

The 2019 Summit will feature critical “Best Practices” presentations by some of the top experts in the world.  The Keynote will be delivered by Vince Poscente a New York Times bestselling author of seven books, a Calgary Olympian and Hall of Fame speaker in both Canada and the USA. Other speakers include Bernard Baumohl chief global economist at The Economic Outlook Group, Ford Saeks, widely recognized as a Business Growth Innovator and Robert W. Wendover an award-winning author who has been researching and writing about workforce trends for more than 30 years.

Other popular features of this MUST ATTEND industry event, include the private Strategic Planning Sessions (PSP’s)between distributors and suppliers, the President’s Award and 4 Under 40 presentations, a Sunday tour to one of the most popular destinations in Alberta Lake Louise and the Tenneco Golf Challenge.

NEW in 2019 will be the silent and live auction to raise money for the Calgary Sick Kids Hospital.  This event will rotate between the US and Canada at the future locations of the Summit.  Great way for our industry to support a wonderful cause.

Tour To Lake Louise With Gondola Ride And Lunch

BanffThe tour from Banff to Lake Louise takes you from the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies into the majestic main ranges of the Continental Divide.  You will gain over one thousand feet in elevation along the way to the glacier capped peaks in the Lake Louise area that tower above the Bow Valley.  The route follows the Bow River upstream past beautiful views of the Sawtooth Range and magnificent Castle Mountain and Mount Temple, the third highest peak in Banff National Park.

A visit to the Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola provides a unique opportunity to go up to a spectacular view point while you admire the sea of peaks that surround you and keep a sharp eye out for the grizzly bears that frequent the habitat below.  You can choose to ride in either an open chair or enclosed gondola for the 14-minute ride to an elevation of 6,850 feet.

Lunch on the mountain at the Whitehorn Bistro offers a contemporary menu with alpine featured items and local products and boasts incredible panoramic mountain views to enjoy while dining.

LakeFollowing lunch, the tour will take you to Lake Louise – the “Diamond in the Wilderness” and crown jewel of lakes in Banff National Park.  Enjoy some leisure time to stroll along the lake shore path, take photographs of the iconic lake and the shining Victoria Glacier or visit the shops of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise – situated on the shores of Lake Louise.

Tenneco Challenge Golf Tournament: Stewart Creek Golf Club

GolfingBuilt on an abandoned mine site, this world-class championship course weaves the history of Canmore and the Canadian Pacific Railway into the natural contours and rugged geological formations that are the signature of mountain golf. Measuring 7,195 yards from the back tee and 5,136 from the front, Stewart Creek challenges the professional player while allowing for a stimulating game for the novice.

Designed by Canadian Golf Architect Gary Browning in 2000, it features breathtaking views of the Three Sisters, Cascade, Pigeon and Ha Ling Mountains.

PoscenteVince Poscente is a New York Times bestselling author of seven books and is an in-demand motivational keynote speaker helping audiences overcome obstacles and maintain resiliency. He’s an Olympian and a Hall of Fame Speaker in both Canada and the USA. Of note, after his B.A. at University of Alberta (with a passion for sports marketing), Vince went onto being the Executive Director of the Alberta Luge Association and liaison with the host broadcaster for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. Then he decided he wanted to be an Olympian. Vince went from recreational skier to the Olympics in four years. He became a five time Canadian record holder, ranked 10th in the world and into the Speed Skiing gold medal round of the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, France. Vince placed 15th skiing at national record of 135 mph. After his sales and executive leadership experience, he went onto speaking, consulting and writing.

In his most recent career Vince has become a New York Times bestselling author (writing seven books to date), inductee into the Speaker Halls of Fame (in Canada and the USA), a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management and adventurer leading and climbing in the Himalayas. He is the founder of the Heroes Climb initiative (climbing and naming mountains after every day heroes).

Vince has been married for over 20 years to a wonderful woman/serial entrepreneur, lives in Dallas and is father to three amazingly talented kids. His musician son, entrepreneurial/actress daughter and youngest, who is a dancer extraordinaire all attended leading arts magnet schools. In Vince’s spare time he plays recreation league hockey on two teams.

Over the past decade, Vince has led expeditions in the Himalayas to name mountains after everyday heroes. Topic: The Economic & Geopolitical Outlook: What are the risks and Opportunities ahead?

BaumohlBernard Baumohl is chief global economist at The Economic Outlook Group. He is well known for being ahead of the curve in assessing the direction of the U.S. and world economy. Mr. Baumohl began his career as an analyst with the Council on Foreign Relations, a think tank specializing in international affairs and national security. He later served as an economist at European American Bank with responsibilities to monitor the global economy and develop forecasts. Mr. Baumohl was also an award-winning economics reporter with TIME magazine who covered the White House, Federal Reserve and Wall Street.

A sought out international speaker, he frequently makes presentations on the latest economic and geopolitical outlook. In additional to his current post as chief global economist, Mr. Baumohl is on the faculty of the New York Institute of Finance, where he conducts seminars on how forward-looking economic indicators can help business leaders better foresee turning points in the economy. He has also previously lectured at NYU and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Mr. Baumohl is a member of the monthly Wall Street Journal Economic Forecast Panel and his projections on the economy and geopolitical trends are frequently cited in the New York Times, Washington Post, Business Week, Financial Times, and on National Public Radio. He also served as a regular commentator on TV’s Nightly Business Report.

Mr. Baumohl is author of The Secrets of Economic Indicators: Hidden Clues to Future Economic Trends and Investment Opportunities (Pearson Education).

11:30 Am – 5:30 Pm: Banff Sightseeing, Shopping And Lunch

shoppingAt the heart of Banff National Park is a charming and historic alpine town nestled among the majestic peaks. The Banff townsite is alive with restaurants, shops, galleries, museums and more.

A gondola trip up Sulphur Mountain provides panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks and valleys of the Bow Valley. Lunch will be in among the peaks in the Sky Bistro.  Many other fascinating sights are encountered on this tour, among them the unusual geological formation known as ‘the Hoodoos’, the splendor of Bow Falls and the magnificent view of the Bow River Valley as seen from Tunnel Mountain Drive.

Lastly for those inclined to a little retail therapy, there will be time to explore downtown Banff where guests will find boutiques, galleries, gift shops and many other specialty stores.  Cantrav’s guide will provide ‘hot tips’ to the different shops available on and around Banff Avenue.

LiftPerched on the summit of Banff’s Sulphur Mountain, Sky Bistro is the dining sanctuary in the sky. Travel up the top of Sulphur Mountain on board the Gondola, to views of six stunning mountain ranges.

With a breathtaking 360-degree rooftop observation deck and an unbelievable panoramic backdrop, you will enjoy the unique experience of dining on top of a mountain.

After lunch, take with a walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk to learn more about Canada’s first national park.

Pat Biermann- HD America

In 1982 a group of 10 heavy duty industry distributors hired Pat to start HD America, the first Heavy Duty marketing group. Over the years HDA became the industry leader and was a force to be reckoned with.  “What a ride!”.  40 years later, as HDA has grown, Pat’s involvement with associations like CVSN, events like HDAW, mentoring the new generation, working with companies on all levels, also has grown.  
Throughout his career Pat has been fortunate to have been associated with bright, forward thinking people from the Independent heavy duty aftermarket”.

Pat has no complaints and said he is truly honored to receive this award from CVSN. Pat has many true friends from our Industry.

Steve Crowley – VIPAR Heavy Duty

Steve began his career in the parts business in the early-seventies working at a NAPA store and later as part owner of a NAPA store, sold his interests to his partner in late 1970`S. His Heavy Duty aftermarket experience began at Schien Body and Equipment as a regional sales manager in their parts operation before joining Chicago Rawhide in 1981.  Steve spent about 17 years at CR/SKF most of that time as the Director of Sales for the Heavy Duty Aftermarket. He left CR/SKF in 1998 to help develop a new company, QDS Partners (Today known as FleetPride).  Steve’s time at VIPAR Heavy Duty began in the year 2000 where he started as the Executive VP, became the President of the company a couple years later, took over the role of President and CEO a year later. Steve retired from VIPAR at the end of 2017.
