- 100,000 reasons to be in supply chain
management
The
supply chain management and logistics professions are gaining
respect in salary, managerial responsibility and strategic
influence over distribution. The 2007 Salary Survey found the
logistics field to be lucrative in general, regardless of gender,
education or experience. Results showed the most common salary
listed in the field to be $100,000, with the average equaling more
than $140,000. DC Velocity (5/2007)
- The "phased retirement" debate
The
"phased retirement" age, which is when pension laws allow
employees to collect some of their pensions while staying on a
company payroll, is now 62. But some groups are asking the IRS to
allow employers to pay partial pensions to workers in their 50s.
"The idea of phased retirement should be to extend working lives
[past 62], not to shorten them," says one lobbying group
representative. Forbes (5/18)

- Mind your p's and q's to better sell
yourself
Networking
events are all about first impressions and meeting people who
might benefit your business or career. You should avoid actions
that may be ill-received, such as compliments that may be
perceived as inappropriate, or asking personal questions, which
can come off as offensive or inappropriate. You also should always
reply to e-mails or phone calls that are a result of the meeting.
